| Volume I - Issue 3, November 1997 One of Charlie and Lucy's greatest joys is getting to speak to kids. Below are just a few of the precious thoughts and comments from some students after hearing the Wedemeyers speak at their public high school. Sharing a message of hope & encouragement.... His determination has compelled me to reach for new heights. In my life I thought about suicide, but now I think my reasons were so small compared to his. And he chose to live. I've learned something very valuable from Charlie today. One doesn't need to be able to move to make a big difference in someone else's life! Isn't it ironic that Charlie can't walk, but he has left so many foot prints behind whereever he goes? This really did touch me a lot. I saw true love. I was really touched by the way they talked about faith and God. In heart, mind, and soul, Charlie is a champion and these are the components that make up a man. I hope that I can have somebody that loves me even half as much as Charlie's wife loves him. Charlie Wedemeyer honored by San Francisco 49ers The San Francisco Forty Niners are taking part in the NFL’s “Coach of the Week” program and this year have named the program the “Charlie Wedemeyer Coach of the Week Award” because of Charlie’s commitment to Bay Area high school sports. Each week Head Coach Steve Mariucci will announce the winner of the Award which is designed to aid and promote youth football and give high school coaches the recognition they deserve. |
